John Velasquez

Songwriter, producer and mixer John Velasquez got his start as a member of the alternative rock band Max and The Moon. He was quickly signed to Cherrytree Records under Martin Kierszenbaum, alongside labelmates Robyn, Sting, Fesit, Disclosure and Matthew Koma. The band toured extensively and shared the stage with artists ranging from Tove Lo to Broods. Eventually, they signed to Songs Publishing under Greg Johnson where they were picked up by Red Bull to play showcases alongside Haim and The Neighbourhood. 

Over his tenure in Max and The Moon, John was able to hone his skills behind the board. He’s grown to love writing with other artists, with a keen focus on helping them develop their sound. Velasquez began collaborating with ‘Local Natives’ Matt Frazier and utilized his newfound passion working on songs with artists such as Concord’s Zella Day, Lindsey Black, as well as Ella Vos on AWAL, already reaching millions of streams on Spotify.

Recently, John has been hard work producing and writing with Gatlin, Co-writing and Co-Produced the title Track on Zella Day’s new LP (Concord), writing with Broods, and in the studio with Australian super stars Vacations (Nettwerk).
